Alaska DHSS Deprioritzes "Transparent" COVID-19 Reporting
In a baffling move sure to raise more than one eyebrow, Alaska DHSS announced today that they will no longer be updating the COVID-19 case and death counts on the weekends or on state holidays.
The Dunleavy administration's response to COVID-19, which has been the equivalent of covering their ears and repeating the words, "no no no no no," has clearly been lacking as the governor has taken steps over the past few months to open the state up and has also worked to minimize the danger of the virus which has claimed over 441,000 american lives.
The Alaska DHSS announcement comes as the United States is in an 'absolute race against time' as new variants of the virus spread across the country. The municipality of Anchorage has only been allotted 12,350 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for the month of February.
It was not immediately clear what prompted Alaska DHSS to change its position on public transparency, but it's good to know that COVID-19 only spreads during business hours.
