'Anchorage Action' Group Issues Two Calls to Action

Administrators of Anchorage Action issued two calls to action today, asking Anchorage residents to contact city officials over what they say is the Bronson administration's failure to acknowledge and address the burgeoning COVID-19 surge occurring in Anchorage. The group is also asking concerned residents to oppose Bronson appointee Judy Eledge as Municipal Library director.

"Alaska hospitals continue to operate under unsustainable levels of stress due to severe staff shortages and the recent influx of COVID-19 patients. Emergency Department wait times are long, and surgeries are being postponed," wrote the group.

Jared Kosin, president of the Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association, has called recent record-breaking COVID-19 hospitalizations a "very serious crisis."

According to preliminary data from the Municipal COVID-19 dashboard this morning, Anchorage will likely see even more hospitalizations reported to Alaska DHSS later today.

Calling Judy Eledge "even less qualified" than Mayor Bronson's previous appointee Sami Graham, Anchorage Action group administrators are calling on Eledge to remove herself from consideration and asking concerned Anchorage residents to send "respectful emails" in their own words to city officials, asking that a "qualified librarian" be selected as director of the Anchorage Public Library system.
