The Anchorage School Board will meet Tuesday, September 7 at 6 pm. Interested members of the public can testify in writing, by phone, or in person. Sign up by 2 pm tomorrow for all testimony (including in-person). Suggested testimony topics:
- Support the renaming of Fairview Elementary School after Dr. Etheldra Davis, the first Black teacher and principal in the district.
- Support the revision of Board Policy to prioritize testimony by students earlier in meetings and reserve front row seating for students (and their parents).
- Thank Deena Bishop (Superintendent) and the Board for maintaining their mask mandate (non-action item, must testify about this during initial audience participation).
According to 'Anchorage Action,' the Anchorage School Board meetings, similar to the Anchorage Assembly meetings, have been under siege by Save Anchorage, Alaska Parents' Rights in Education, and now Alaskans for Children's Right to Breathe.
Those interested in providing testimony at tomorrow's meeting can sign up at this link to do so.
