Anti-LGBTQ Hate Group Files Federal Lawsuit Against Municipality of Anchorage

Anti-LGBTQ hate group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a legal advocacy and training group founded by leaders of the Christian Right, has filed a lawsuit against the Municipality of Anchorage, the Anchorage Equal Rights Commission, and its Executive Director Mitzi Boloños Anderson.
The group of religious zealots bringing the lawsuit has defended state-sanctioned sterilization of trans people abroad, has contended that LGBTQ people are more likely to engage in pedophilia, and claims that a “homosexual agenda” will destroy Christianity and society.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, ADF's longstanding hostility toward LGBTQ people has become public through its work on lawsuits, various statements its leaders have made, in addition to materials it has offered on its website over the years.
ADF has promoted the idea of a "homosexual agenda"— claiming gay people and their allies have engaged in nefarious schemes to destroy Christianity and, eventually, civilization through LGBTQ people's efforts to secure equality under the law.
On Wednesday, two days before anti-LGBT Anchorage Mayor David Bronson was sworn in, ADF curiously filed a lawsuit in federal court which claims in part that the Municipality of Anchorage "targeted" the Downtown Hope Center when the Anchorage Assembly passed AO 2021-30.
ADF's lawsuit seeks a preliminary and permanent injunction that would arguably permit the Downtown Hope Center to continue its 'Christian' practice of discriminating against Anchorage's Transgender community.
When asked at a press conference earlier this morning about the lawsuit, Mayor Bronson said that he had not heard of the lawsuit, and the press conference was brought to an end.
You can watch Mayor Bronson's response to the question here.
I reached out to the Anchorage Equal Rights Commission for comment on the lawsuit and was asked to call them back in the morning.
