Community Councils Hit By Another Attempt to Undermine EO's

Last year, a draft resolution in opposition to Emergency Order 16 was emailed to Anchorage Community Councils. The proposed resolution was seen as an attempt to garner support at the local level to show Acting Anchorage Mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson that there wasn't city-wide support for the modified hunker down order.

Also last December, as the draft resolution was circulating among other Community Councils, Eagle River assemblywoman Jamie Allard attended Community Council meetings giving an interesting perspective on how COVID-19 may have been spreading throughout the Municipality of Anchorage and stated in an after meeting conversation, that there's "no scientific proof that locking us down for four weeks was going to work."

In January, the state Section of Epidemiology released a report showing emergency orders helped slow the spread of coronavirus in Anchorage.

Three months later, another draft resolution, obtained by The Blue Alaskan, is circulating among certain Community Councils, only this time the proposal is in "opposition to the declared public health emergency" in Anchorage.

The draft resolution from December and the most recent proposal from this month, submitted in Microsoft Word document format, show the name "Michael" as the author of both documents. However, the individuals who submitted the document are not known to go by that particular name. Comparing the two documents, it's clear they are similar, both using the same verbiage and author.

Eagle River Assemblywoman Jamie Allard, who has made numerous attempts to end the emergency declaration, saw her efforts sidelined for good after her most recent attempt to do so was postponed indefinitely by the Anchorage Assembly.

To date, COVID-19 has taken the lives of over 532,000 Americans and the state of Alaska has recently seen the appearance of the P.1 Brazil variant of the virus with two of those cases in Eagle River.
