Craig Campbell resigns from Bronson Administration

In a press release issued this morning, Anchorage Mayor David Bronson announced that he had accepted the resignation of his former Chief of Staff Craig Campbell. In August, Bronson named failed school board candidate Sami Graham as Chief of Staff after the Anchorage Assembly voted down Graham's appointment to head the Anchorage Public Library (APL).

In a press release on August 24, the Office of the Mayor wrote that Campbell would relinquish his role as Chief of Staff to serve as Director of Policy and Programs (whatever that is).

Campbell's resignation from the Bronson Administration comes at a time when the city's former real estate director, Christina Hendrickson, announced she was suing the Bronson administration, alleging she was illegally fired after making a whistleblower complaint to the Assembly.

According to today's press release, Campbell will return to Alaska Aerospace (where he served as President and CEO from 2012 to 2019) to assist in the senior leadership transition at the company to diversify Alaska's economy by increasing aerospace investments and operations in the state.

Karl Raskiewicz will move into the Mayor's Office, and Marilyn Banzhaf will become Acting OMB Director.

Campbell's resignation is effective October 24, 2021.
