Happy New Year
The Republican-led disaster year of 2020 is coming to a close just as the United States has seen 344,000 American Covid-19-related deaths and witnessed over 4,000 deaths a day. In less than a month, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris will enter the White House and begin healing the damage wrought on the country by Donald Trump and Mike Pence.
President-elect Joe Biden will begin restoring our nation's credibility around the world, repairing fractured alliances and putting the well-being of Americans first.
Joseph Biden will succeed where Donald Trump failed - by being president for all Americans, not just the ones who voted for him. It is my hope that the hate, rhetoric, threats of violence, and acts of violence that have permeated our nation's politics will subside and that the country will return to some form of normalcy, and that those effects will be reflected in our state as Donald Trump takes his exit walk in January.
Violent rhetoric in our country and state - anywhere for that matter - must never be condoned or embraced by our public officials and it should never be used to champion a cause or political effort. I strongly believe this and I know many others in our state do as well.
Have a safe New Year's Eve and a healthy and prosperous 2021.
