'No On Zaletel Recall' Group Begins Taking Donations
Wasting people's time and money seems to be a favorite pastime of Midtown political activists but here we are again. Truly, let us all join hands and collectively vomit.

Wasting people's time and money seems to be a favorite pastime of Midtown political activists, but here we are again. So, truly, let us all join hands and collectively vomit.
A group called 'No On Zaletel Recall' has formed to fend off the recall of another Progressive Anchorage Assembly Member who has found themselves politically besieged by a group of political activists aligned with the Arctic Liberation Coalition and Reclaim Midtown Facebook page.
Of the recall effort against her, Assembly Woman Meg Zaletel wrote:
“Alaska’s Recall laws allow initiation of a recall against an assembly member quite easily. The courts have said it doesn’t have to be true—let the voters sort it out. The same folks that organized the recall against the other midtown assembly member, which the voters wholeheartedly rejected, are now going after me. It’s discouraging to waste public resources as well as my own time on this. My time and your taxpayer dollars should be spent on working on the issues important to Anchorage residents, not on an unjustified recall.”

In a recent court filing, Anchorage Municipal Attorney Ruth Botstein argued that Dr. Russell Biggs has attempted to recall Ms. Zaletel for "opposite and diametrically opposed reasons" and cited "striking inconsistencies," which they say suggests the recall efforts against Zaletel are "purely political" rather than rooted in genuine belief as to the wrongfulness of Ms. Zaletel's conduct..."

Efforts to recall Anchorage Assemblymember Felix Rivera earlier this year proved to be a colossal waste of time and resources after proponents of that recall effort saw their recall attempt go down in flames by a margin of 13 points.
The 'No on Zaletel Recall' group is now accepting donations on their website.
After the election of David Bronson, Anchorage Assembly seats have become much more important, and Progressives will need to hold the line as the Right continues working to remove Assembly Members and flip Progressive seats in the 2022 Municipal election.
