“Our Schools, Our Voice." Get to know the school board candidates
Next week on Thursday, February 24 from 6:30-8 pm, the Alaska Center will co-host a "Our Schools, Our Voice" school board candidate forum where candidates will provide their thoughts on topics such as virtual learning and health education.

The Anchorage Municipal elections are right around the corner, and two Anchorage school board seats are up as conservatives continue to wage a nationwide effort to ban books from school libraries, attack sex education curriculum, and work to establish mandatory original source US history.
Next week, on Thursday, February 24, from 6:30-8 p.m., the Alaska Center will co-host an "Our Schools, Our Voice" school board candidate forum. Candidates will provide their thoughts on topics such as virtual learning and health education. Students and community members will ask questions to learn where the candidates stand on crucial issues.
The event will be held via Zoom and will be streamed live on Facebook. Individuals who wish to ask questions and participate directly in the event can register at this link.
An announcement associated with the candidate forum didn't indicate which school board candidates would be appearing at next week's event.
This forum is in partnership with Growing Alaskan Leaders, the Alaska Coalition of BIPOC Educators, Anchorage Youth Vote, Stand UP Alaska, and Alaska Youth for Environmental Action.
