Pat Higgins Declares Victory in School Board Race

As of Thursday evening when the last of the mail in ballots trickle in for Anchorage Municipal races, Pat Higgins won his School Board seat with a substantial enough margin to ensure there will not be an automatic recount.
“I am grateful for the support of my family, organizations and individuals that encouraged me to run. My commitment to our community and to our schools stems not only from my children who attended public schools in Anchorage, but now to my grandchildren.
“Furthermore, I want to make sure all children in our public schools receive the best education possible. Our community strives to be diverse, inclusive and welcoming, but we should always work to improve graduation rates, teacher retention and to close the achievement gap.
“I am looking forward to working with the current ASD board members and newly elected members Carl Jacobs, Kelly Lessens, and Dora Wilson. We have much to do but can get the job done by working together.”
