WorldWide Alaska Telegram Group Tries to Organize 'Rally for Freedom 3.0'

Another Telegram group is looking for Alaska organizers ahead of what is being called a Worldwide Rally for Freedom 3.0 event slated to be held at various locations around the world on July 24, 2021.

An administrator for the WorldWide Alaska group says that they're an American living in the United Kingdom and attempting to "motivate everyone in the US to stand up."

This past May, activists affiliated with World Wide Rally for Freedom protested restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic and their perceived impact on civil liberties.

The group has attracted the attention of a few interested Alaskans from Homer and Anchorage.

One Telegram user wrote to the group that they "had a friend in Homer who was raided by the FBI. They were looking for nacy pelosi’s labtop and assume my friend was at the capital. Not a joke."

The comment was likely a reference to the FBI raid on the home of Marilyn and Paul Hueper, who were both reportedly on the grounds of the Capitol on Jan. 6 to support former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The FBI's raid, however, appears to have been a case of mistaken identity.

Thus far, nobody from Alaska has stepped up to organize and plan for the event, which seems unlikely to occur since Alaska is open, COVID-19 case counts are down across the state, and the mask mandate in Anchorage has been rescinded.

I'll keep tabs...just in case.
