Amendment to Resolution Draws Audible Gasps

During the nearly six-hour-long Anchorage Assembly meeting last evening, Assembly members began debate on a resolution that sought to condemn the riots on Capitol Hill last week. The debate on this one resolution lasted a little over an hour as some assembly members offered their own amendments to the proposed resolution.

Anchorage Assemblyman and Anchorage Mayoral Candidate Forrest Dunbar offered an amendment to a previously put forth amendment at one point during the debate, proposing the following verbiage be inserted into the proposed resolution which would read:

(Alaskans) “who traveled to DC to support the peaceful transition of power and acknowledge that Joe Biden won a free, fair and legitimate election.”

Members of the Facebook group Save Anchorage were in attendance last evening, many of them raising their voices and calling Assembly members they blame for actions taken by the municipality to curb the spread of COVID-19...names. The Facebook group itself has been in a bit of hot water in recent weeks for engaging in online conspiracy theories, sharing fake news and promoting misinformation on mask wearing and COVID-19.

As Mr. Dunbar offered his amendment, the audience, largely comprised of Save Anchorage group members, let out a collective audible gasp — a gasp that stands in opposition to Donald Trump's hand-picked former Attorney General William Barr's assertion that there was no widespread election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
