Candidate Paul Bauer Spins Wild Conspiracy About Baby Dunbar
According to candidate Paul Bauer, the Dunbars' marriage is a sham and their baby...doesn't actually exist.
Those who have followed me over the years know that local political discourse can get messy. You also likely know that every once in a while, a candidate will write a social media post that is so entirely detached from reality that I just can't help but cement it in search engines forever.
This week, Paul Bauer, a lunatic MAGA perennial candidate running against Rep. Andrew Gray (again), took to Facebook to share a photo of State Senator Forrest Dunbar and his lovely wife, Tasha, pushing a stroller at Anchorage's 4th of July parade.
As you might expect, Bauer's post is a chaotic mix of right-wing grievances and absolute delusion. He begins by complaining about foreign aid funding for DEI initiatives and LGBTQ+ advocacy before abruptly pivoting to question the legitimacy of Dunbar's sexual orientation and his marriage. 🤯
Based solely on Dunbar being an outspoken supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, Bauer invents a wild conspiracy that Dunbar's marriage is a fake cover-up to hide his true sexual identity. He also insults his wife, Tasha, and bizarrely suggests the stroller is a prop because that baby boy Tasha pushed out of her body a few months ago? Yeah, well, he doesn't actually exist.
Yes, yes, the Dunbars, so desperate to hide their sham of a marriage, are out parading around an empty baby stroller so as not to draw attention to themselves.

When rational Alaskans dared to enter Bauer's comment section to inject a dose of reality into this bigoted and hateful circus, Bauer did what most MAGA do - he threw a tantrum and doubled down on his delusion - demanding to know where the baby was and accusing Dunbar of betraying the LGBTQ+ community.
Hell, even Carolyn Ceigler Clift jumped in, accurately noting that supporting the LGBTQ+ community does not actually require someone to identify as LGBTQ+. She politely asked Bauer to reel in his unhinged claims. Bauer responded by calling her politically ignorant, telling her to stay in her own lane, and accusing her of spreading libertarian propaganda.

Then, the comment section took, as we say, a deeply sinister turn.
A commenter using the pseudonym "Jar Rod" swooped in to air unrelated grievances about COVID-19 vaccines. The rant rapidly escalated into a direct threat aimed squarely at Dunbar and his wife. Jar Rod explicitly stated that the Dunbars need to be eradicated from society.

As of this writing, District 20 candidate Bauer has not deleted or condemned this explicit call for violence against an Alaskan elected official and his family, nor apologized for lying about the Dunbar family. I say "family" because while you can't see the baby...I have it on good authority that Baby Dunbar was, in fact, born months ago and happily enjoying his ride in the stroller on July 4th.
Oh, and by the way, a quick cursory look at Forrest's social media quickly turns up photos of the alleged not-born baby.
Seriously, folks, people are going to vote for this Bauer guy.
