Embattled Health Director Resigns

Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson's appointed health director David Morgan resigned on Friday. Morgan had come under fire for comments about the Coronavirus pandemic and over social media posts on his Facebook account.
Alaska Public Media's Nat Hertz reported last month that Morgan shared graphics to his Facebook account, one of which quoted a comedian as saying:
"If you think the coronavirus panic in an election year right after three failed coup attempts against Trump is a coincidence, you might be as dumb as a rock!"
On July 30, 2021, it was reported that the Anchorage Assembly had expedited the confirmation process for Morgan in response to concerns over comments Morgan made about the pandemic. Morgan was reluctant to say that the pandemic is ongoing, instead saying, "It's a personal view kind of thing ... Pandemic is an adjective that describes a situation."
Also, on July 30 came a series of allegations made by Anchorage resident Christopher Blake who wrote on social media that a local non-profit, Choices Inc., had suffered financially due to Morgan's employment at Choices Inc.
Morgan reportedly denied the allegations.
According to a source, Deputy Director DeeAnn Fetko has been named Acting Director, effective immediately.
