Eagle River Republicans Are Shopping for a New Rep.
Follow the money. It's running away from Jamie Allard.
The latest APOC reports are in, and they contain a few details that should have Rep. Jamie Allard sweating through her crocheted, culture war mask - both of her Republican challengers have out-raised her. Yes, both.
Ruby Jones leads the Republican field with $28,693.25 raised, Nick Capozzi is right behind her at $28,212.76, and the incumbent brings up the...umm...rear at $27,172.00. The gap gets uglier when you look at just this reporting period, which covers February 2 through July 17. Jones pulled in $18,418.25 and Capozzi hauled $17,868.04, while Allard managed a very sad $14,517.00. When an incumbent legislator, with all the built-in advantages that title carries, gets out-raised by two challengers from her own party in her own district, well, that's an ominous foreboding one simply cannot ignore.
In fairness (even though Allard has rarely treated anyone fairly), Allard still holds the biggest war chest, with $17,694.38 in the bank compared to Jones's $13,073.98 and Capozzi's $10,386.45. Cash on hand very often measures thrift, while overall fundraising measures enthusiasm, and the enthusiasm in deep-red Eagle River is conspicuously flowing away from the MAGA conspiracy-theorist lunatic incumbent.
It's not difficult to imagine what has donors shopping around for change. This is the same Jamie Allard who defended "FUHRER" and "3REICH" vanity plates so passionately that Gov. Mike Dunleavy, no squishy moderate, booted her from the Alaska Human Rights Commission. The same Allard who repeatedly smeared public school teachers as "groomers," then went on the radio and lied about ever saying it until the receipts surfaced.
I brought the receipts - Jamie Allard lied about never having called all teachers sexual abusers.
The same Allard whose idea of education policy is amplifying the stochastic terrorist Libs of TikTok account and musing about defunding the Anchorage School District.
Look - at some point, even conservative donors get tired of writing checks to a walking train wreck and liability who has failed students, teachers, and working families.
Allard seems to sense it too. She recently posted to social media declaring herself "the only Military Veteran conservative candidate" in the race, which came as news to Capozzi, who spent nearly 25 years in the Army.
It takes an especially deranged person to lie about your opponent's military service in a city full of veterans who know how to read a DD-214.
The pre-primary money tells us something many of us have been hoping for - for a long, long time. The people who know Jamie Allard best, her own party's donors in her own backyard, are actively funding her replacement.
Couldn't happen to a nicer groomer-slur enthusiast.
